A Niche in business or commerce is a broader term for a specific area of interest.
A Niche Market is a focused or targeted subsection of a broader niche.
A a Micro Niche is an even smaller part of the niche market, sometimes referred to as the long tail.
An example: If the niche is “Little League” then the niche market would be “Little League Baseball” and a micro niche could be “Little League Approved Bats.”
To analyze consumer demand for each area of a niche we will do keyword research. In our example we come up with the following monthly search results.
Little League = 33,100
Little League Baseball = 8,100
Little League Approved Bats = 4,400
The best area of a niche to use for creating a profitable Affiliate Marketing Blog is the Micro Niche. The reason is that the competition is far less, the traffic is more targeted to a specific product or service, and this results in a faster profit.
How To Find A Niche Market
Although there are tools to help find a niche market, we’ll show a way to do it for free that works just as well.
We’re going to use Google Search. When you type a keyword into the Google search bar you’ll see a drop down list of suggestions. (see screenshot below)
What you see are the most popular searches that start with the words “How To.”
Now we’ll take it one step further and add an “A”. You could try every letter of the alphabet or even use other words such as, where to, where to buy, what is, etc. There are endless possibilities!
You see a whole new list of hot searches that may be good opportunities for a niche market.
Now we’ll use the niche we are working in, “Little League”, to find a micro niche. In the image below you can see we came up with several choices. The two that seem to be the most logical choices are Little League Apparel and Little League Approved Bats.
There are millions of niche markets available and this method is a free way to find them.
Once you find several possibilities, the next step is to do keyword research on each one in order to find the one with the best potential.
